Then seeing the wings thought why not make it more

August - Recycled
Wow! What happened last month. Not a post....
Lets hope this month is more productive.
The theme is 'recycled' - make something from something. Stick things on your artwork, paint on found materials, sculpt with recycled materials...
Have a go! Have fun! Share your joy!

Open influence - July
We are all influenced by what has happened in the past. Sometimes it is obvious in our work and sometimes it is more subtle. Some "creatives" directly try to put their own "new" meaning to an iconic image or story.
For example, when John Brack painted "The Bar" he had Edouard Manet's "A bar at the Folies-Bergere" in mind. (Both pictures are below)
Their is a whole blog dedicated to illustrators who are doing their own version of Maurice Sendak's "Where the wild things are". http://www.terribleyelloweyes.com/ (Examples below)
For this month you can create your own version of an iconic image with a "new meaning" (remember to write in the post your new meaning/intention) or post some of your recent work that you have created and discuss the influences apparent in the work.
I look forward to some interesting reading this month.

June - No excuse month - Andrea Radley
I have been playing with cutouts and texta. After seeing a Miso documentary on the ABC. I like the extra challenge with the positive and negative space and thinking about how to do so it is all connected. These are some fun images to decorate the walls at home for the kids.

This is an Acrylic painting I have done this year while studying the Graphics Diploma and I find the need to continue in my other mediums to keep it alive. Studying these other formats and programs to create have stiffled but enriched my perceptions also. I feel i have done a 360 and now design, position, texture and many other influences have freed my imagination but i was cursing them for a while there. This dragon symbolises air and fortune. The upside down triangle is fire along with the cresent moon - water. I like to incorporate all elements fire, water, earth, air and spirit and i like to work the picture to the point where i feel it comes alive, it may lay flat for weeks until a dream creates the energy of life i look and try to accomplish in my paintings..........

Title:the happy robot's playground
Course: we were required to create a panoramic background for a fictional character, i had created "the happy robot" for a kids story book and decided he needed a playground. i took photos at a local wreckers yard, bleached the images and glued them together. texture was added by glueing various materials,(i.e. gravel, broken glass, berries, sticks etc.) and then painting the entire scene in acrylic, i then imported the image of the happy robot onto the scene and "walla!", here it is...

June - No excuse month
Hi everyone,
Thanks to a suggestion from a student, Daniel McKenna, the theme for this month is open. You can put up any work you have created this year. So there are no excuses for not posting. If you have not already posted and are wondering how just ring or email Nathan Pye or Andrea Radley and we are more than happy to help.
Well done Daniel for the great idea. If anybody else has an idea for subsequant months let us know.
Also another exciting development this year is that there will be awards at the end of the year. Posters are being put up around the campuses this week and I will post more information about the awards soon.
More reason to post your work this month.
We look forward to seeing your work and please write a brief statement about the piece to go with the picture.
Get creative!
