February - Change - Fiona Howland
The concept of obvious colour change in the Chameleon's skin came into play when i made this whimsical teapot. My idea of a 'being' doing a 180 degree change comes from my own painful dealings of life earlier in 2006. The Chameleon is an enjoyable 'element' to play with and use for my work whatever the medium! "Huey" reminds me frequently of the uncanny ability for him to change colours for his benefit. Huey is a play on the word Hue, meaning colour! Huey belongs to the beginning of a series of works to come in the future. It represents the ability for any organism to change in response to the environment in which it lives.
