March - Fairytales - Andrea Radley

Rabbits and especially white rabbits appear symbolically a lot in Fairytales and art. They are often used as a symbol ot fertiltiy or rebirth and of playful sexuality, which also relates to the human perception of innocence, as well as its reputation as a prolific breeder.
Rabbits can be seen as defenceless creatures as they are a prey animal and can represent timidity especially in sport.
My piece is a picture of my daugther with her rabbit, which she wanted as a pet because it looked like such a fluffly cuddly creature. It turns out it doesnt like cuddles and has got long nails which leave quiet substantial painful scratches.
