New Begginings - Andrew Dart

Artist: Andrew Dart
Size: 1000 x 800 pixels
Materials: Pen and Photoshop
Date: 29th May 08

This was drawn some months ago in a department meeting. It started as just a line on the page and evolved into this alien growth. This is a style that i have adapted to and continue to draw at a subconcious level.

Old to New

Resurrection of our ancestors technology, is certainly worthwhile. After all it did take us where we are today.

Artist: Chapman made the braces, but Stanley bought them out around 1935. Axel Goddyn resurrected it.

Natures Beginnings

Much like the others I took a rather literal representation of beginnings. Showing the new beginning of life. It's a simplistic, child like drawing showing the beginning of life for nature, using the example of a flower and a butterlfy.

And here's the original sketch

Hatchling

Finally, after months of planning...it begins.

For this piece I have taken the subject 'Beginnings' in a literal, illustrative way. I chose to draw an unborn baby cuttlefish in its egg. It's pretty obvious symbolism, but its how I feel about this new venture. We are still unhatched babies.

Here's the original sketch

Beginnings -Sam Clarke

The idea that the photo is meant to show is that I am standing over a long road, getting ready to walk it. I thought that some people might not be able to gain that thought from looking at the picture. So I added text, which I lined up with the pole that I am standing on, for extra effect.

Beginnings - Matthew King

The idea came from the perspective shown by railway lines slowly coming together in the distance. By the end that idea almost was scrapped when I was able to shoe that I could make a look of an artificial beginning by making the character within the picture (myself) look like a 'cutout' this helped to show the emphasis on a start of a journey. Almost as myself diving into Multimedia as I actually am.

Beginnings - Jai Lawrance

Well with the theme "beginnings" the first thing that came to my head was the beginning of time though at first I didn't know what I was going to do for it. The idea of having zero's on all the numbers to represent time starting just sort of popped into my head and it worked.

Family - Thirty seconds old

Even though you are technically a family since conception it doesn’t really hit you until they are born.

They are so small, so beautiful and so helpless. (The enormity of their dependency hits you after a week or so of little sleep.)

But what a fantastic thing to do. We enjoyed it so much we did it two more times!

Beginnings - Tracey Head

This painting is a new start in the way I create paintings. The image comes from my spiritual side in contrast to the more formal practices learnt from my studies.

Beginnings - Carolyn Reed

This is one of my more simple ideas for the theme ‘Beginnings’. I thought it would be good to take a photo of a rose that hasn’t opened and is still a blob form. The rose is in its ugly stage before it opens into an amazing flower.

New Beginnings - Impossible Machine

This is my impossible creation machine. Is there such a thing as new beginnings or is everything recycled anyway? Creation seems so haphazard and down to luck. Flimsy and inefficient but somehow it all works. Where is the begining anyway?

Beginnings - Cathy Hoffman 'Mungo Time'

This tapestry was inspired by a place called ‘Lake Mungo’. The layering of the earth captures fragments of bone and stone tools from over 40 thousand years of Australian history. As I woven a winged angel and a seated mediating figure became apparent amongst the other fragments. This seemed to reflect modern interest and interpretation of the site.
