I took the photo of the Monkey spray painting and then added the word communication in front, and for this the Monkey is communication through art.

May - Communication - Laurise Owen

Using the word Communication we were asked to display it in some way. I have cut the letters out and then stuck them on post it notes and stuck them on a willing helper. Arms crossed but luckily still open to communication, I felt this typifies our youth today. Thanks for your help Alfie!

We were given the task of placing the word 'communication' somewhere. I spray painted a wheelie bin as there has often been a lack of communication between neighbours at my place about which bin belongs to whom with one or two being stolen every now and then..

This is the letter 'Dd' for a typography sculpture assignment. The D's have been carved into layers of cork tile and covered in paper mache using the D sections of several dictionaries. A black tile has been put at the back of the sculptue to so that the D's are clearly visible.

May - Text - Tracey Head

This is my low relief sculpture/form for the new building of SW TAFE. This form was created as a requirement for our subject Typography with Andrea. I created this "C" using the Bauhaus style of font along with the materials clay and texture on board with a touch of photoshop just to blacken the background....
As a project we were asked to create two designs using texture and i got the letters "C" and "U", ironic being I see "C" "U", get it.....
I am drawn to Bauhaus design and as i dont really know much about this period in art or font/typography im interested in how and why i am drawn to its design. I feel it may be to do with design after the war and it being a burst towards freedom very symbolic to how i am feeling at this point in my life......

May - text as main part of image

May - text as main part of image
April was a tough month. Lets see whether we can improve the posts for May. Keep them coming.

For May the theme is to create a piece with text as a major part of the design\image.

Once again any medium is welcome.

Please remember to put the month, theme title and your name in the post title and to put the following details in the body of the post:Artist, Title of work, Medium, Date, Course.A few people are forgetting this bit but it is very important.

Have fun!
