This artwork is a book that contain 8 pages. The purpose was to design something that doesn't contain any words / text. The artwork must speak itself.....Out of many kids stories I choosed the Frog and the Ox. The story is meaningful to me even though its not popular. It has a great message across that invites us to take a board.

May - Line from a story - Andrea Radley

Last week I totally enjoyed a week long oil painting workshop at South West Institute of TAFE with Graeme Ultmann as instructor. This is the first time I have painted in oils and I am not normally a landscape painter so it posed a lot of challenges for me, but I learnt a lot and had lots of fun. I chose this painting that I did at the start of the workshop for this months theme. It is my husband, Ken taking our daughter out for a row in his clinker boat for the first time on the Hopkins River.

In the first chapter of the book "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame, the Rat has just invited the Mole to go for a trip in a boat.
"This has been a wonderful day!" said he, as the Rat shoved off and took to the sculls again. "Do you know, I've never been in a boat before in all my life."
"What?" cried the Rat, open-mouthed: "Never been in a - you never- well I - what have you been doing, then?"
"Is it so nice as all that?" asked the Mole shyly, though he was quite prepared to believe it as he leant back in his seat and surveyed the cushions, the oars, the row locks, and all the fascinating fittings, and felt the boat sway lightly forward for his stroke. "Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING - absolute nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing," he went on dreamily: "messing - about - in - boats; messing --."

So another piece for another month. It's sorta like my first piece i did for the blog, I thought the style worked for it well, so i used it again. The Lyric is from East West - Let You Go. "I wonder if there will be roses in heaven?"

Yet another month of cuttlefish, going by quicker than expected. I'm loving seeing everyone's different stuff, it's good broadening my view of art past what I can think of myself. Keep it up everyone.

May - Line from a song, poem or story

Wow! Last month we had the most posts so far. This is great.

Also look out for posters around South West Institute of TAFE that list the monthly themes for the rest of the year so you can plan ahead.

This months theme is to interpret a line from a song, poem or story.

The work can be anything; sculpture, photography, illustration, painting, film etc as long as it can be related back to the topic. Along with the image we also need:
* Size of work
* Materials used
* And a blurb about the work itself
* Artists name
* The date is was created
* Course enrolled or department you work in

I took this photo when I was out taking photos for another project and though that would cool for repetition; I had to take the photo without looking though the viewfinder because the fence is too tall

Repetition - Phoebe Adams

Steps at Blanche Cave, Naracoorte S.A.

Repetition can be found in human formed things and naturally formed things. Repetition can be functional and incidental. These steps made by humans in the late 1800's are at the entrance to Blanche Cave in Naracoorte S.A. Many visitors to the cave have carefully negotiated these stairs. The stairs form and function represents repetition.

Blanche Cave was discovered in 1845 and has had many human visitors since. The Southern Bentwing Bat uses the cave every year as a winter torpor spot (more repetition).

Straw Stalactites in Alexandra Caves, Naracoorte, S.A.

Stalactites are formed as countless water drops fall from the roof of a cave. As the water drop builds in size, until gravity causes it to fall, it forms a tiny mineral deposit in the shape of a ring. Over time as countless water drops form and fall, this ring grows into a straw. The formation of stalactites and stalagmites is a great example of repetition.

Repitition - Carolyn Reed

I was trying to take photos for the water comp. I was after the water the was in the centre of the plants, and because of the shape of the plants I think they can work as repetition. The second photo is of water droplets on my tent one morning when I was camping and it work well to.

April - Repetition - Simon Greening

I wanted to combine some illustration and typography in this work, so I used the word repetition as the focus. Running with the theme repetition, I repeated the word repetition over and over, layering them on top of each other to create the dark shading, I then used the same 4 repeating elements to bulk the work out. I finished it up by adding a bit of color, and some photoshop spit and polish.

Repetition - Mex Butler

The hay sparkles at the edges where it escapes from the binding. I love the way the bales spread and cluster in the paddocks. Some look like they are hanging around together for a chat, or ganging up on the others.
